Changes the Card Companies Need to Make for the Greater Good

By Alex Kupka aka mnlax13

Like many collectors on this site, I am quite fed up with the card companies and many aspects of their products. To start off if I could change things about companies the first thing that I get them to do is to start inserting more decoys. Many people view pack searchers as a cardinal sin in the hobby. They’re looked down upon and many believe that people that commit this act are ruining the future of collecting for our youth. I have been to big box stores and have seen people searching for some relic or More >

The Art of the Batting Stance

By David Oby aka CavFanatic21

Perhaps one of the most known symbols of each player in the Major Leagues is the routine they do when they come to the plate for their at-bats. From mocking your favorite players in a wiffle-ball game, or building your own stance based off of another player’s, everyone has their own rendition of a batting stance.

Batting Stance (n.) - The position made by the player up to bat, in the sport of baseball, to prepare themselves to attempt to hit the ball

Although it may seem pretty simple, it is outrageous how many different stances have been More >

Michael Barton Looks at C.M. Punk

By Michael Barton aka MonticelloCards

“Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because it’s the best thing going today!”

- Ric Flair

One of my favorite quotes of all time, and it fits the topic I would like to discuss today. That topic is C.M. Punk – for one – who did more in five minutes with a microphone than John Cena has his whole career. But the credit has to really go to another man, that being Vince McMahon.

There was a lot of confusion a few weeks back when C.M. Punk – at the end of yet another very More >

A Special Thanks to SCF Members

On June 18th, 2011, my wife Becky and I decided to run a fund raising yard sale for the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation.  Why Diamond Blackfan Anemia?  This is the disorder that my daughter Olivia has been diagnosed with.  Diamond Blackfan Anemia or DBA, is a rare blood disorder in which the bone marrow (the center of the bone where blood cells are made) to produce red blood cells.

So why am I writing about a yard sale that occurred in Buffalo, NY for a Sport Card Collecting website?  Because I want to share 2 stories of generosity that SCF members More >

Keeping Kids Interested

By Joe Simanis aka GHCHambone

To me there is no better joy than ripping open a pack of wax, finding that card you have been searching high and low for, or trading cards with another member here on Sports Card Forum. These are the things that card collecting and trading are all about. However, card collecting can be an expensive hobby at times, and this may possibly turn some kids away from the hobby. So what can be done? Here are a few of my ideas to help bring this wonderful hobby to a new generation.

My Wife Is a 1/1

By Henry Salazar aka FL Henry

My wife and I went to high school together so we have known each other for over twenty years. At sixteen years old she won the beauty pageant in our small town. She finished third in her high school class and went on to a 4.0 GPA in college. She also earned the highest academic honors for her master’s degree in accounting and now has a fantastic job in financial management. As one might imagine there are plenty of reasons why I may have been attracted to her way back in the day. I clearly More >
