You know the kind– belly spasming, knees weak, face stretched to its limits, swimming in tears and delirium, desperately trying to hold onto the surface of the earth. It’s the very best kind of laughing. On a perfect California day in 2009, this was us, my very good friend Nik and me, emerging from the Upper Deck store, surrendering our composure to our own incredulity, the irony of it all, our sheer dumb luck. We were walking away with with nearly fifteen hundred bucks worth of 2009 SP Legendary Cuts Baseball and 2009-10 O-Pee-Chee Premier hockey, More >

Collecting used to be a hobby, it used to be all about fun but lately it just seems like it is a big business which is solely about the money. Personally, I collect two players Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur. For the hockey fans amongst you, you are very well aware of who these guys are for other sports fans well, let’s just say that these two guys are number 1 and number 2 in total career wins in the NHL. Yup, they are the best of the best there is no doubt. With the star status normally More >

For us card collectors, attending a card show always makes for a fun day but I’ll tell you what makes it even more special; attending it to promote Sports Card Forum. Not only do you get to tell plenty of people about an awesome site but chances are you get to meet members in person as well, allowing you to put faces on the numerous user names you see on a daily basis. Last weekend, I was lucky enough to attend a card show in Montreal to spread the word about SCF.

In 2000, CBC started broadcasting its Hockey Day in Canada once a year, a day during which the 6 Canadian teams of the NHL played each other. A most appreciated initiative across Canada and then a few years later, Upper Deck decided to start its National Hockey Card day which is held on the same day as Hockey Day in Canada. The concept is simple, on that day, participating hobby stores give out a free pack of special issue National Hockey Card Day to the people who either come to their store or buy something (they More >

Three cards; three Derek Boogaard cards is all it took for the obsession of hockey card collecting to completely consume me. I first started collecting early in 2010 . It all started with purchasing individual cards of players I liked or had heard of; I was new to hockey and the NHL at that point in time in addition to collecting. It didn’t take long for a few cards to become a nice little Minnesota Wild collection.
Then, one day I came across a box of 1990 Score Hockey for only $10 at the local card store More >
