Remembering the Madness
May 27th
By RGM81 aka Richard McAdam
The news hit me very hard. I just stared at the monitor for a couple of minutes trying to digest the words that were flashed on the screen. Usually when I have something newsworthy in front of me I pass it along to the closest person available for a quick discussion. For some reason, with this one, the words could not come to my mouth for several minutes. All I could do was stare at the screen with my mouth slightly agape.

My First Baseball Game
May 27th
By Bryan Veale aka RedsFanatic21
It was June 5, 1987. I was twelve years old, and my family was starting out on vacation for the summer. My parents had a habit of just taking off and not telling us kids where we were headed; this was one of those times. About one hour into our trip, they told us that we were going to Cincinnati to a Reds baseball game. I was a huge Reds and Eric Davis fan, so this was easily the best place in my eyes that we could spend our vacation. I was so excited that I More >
The Dilemma that Is Chael Sonnen
May 25th
By Micheal Barton aka MonticelloCards
A little less than a year ago, Chael Sonnen became a household name through self promotion that took many who follow UFC by surprise. He told stories, made fun of Anderson Silva incessantly, but surprisingly; he backed up his smack talking at UFC 117, taking Silva and dominating him for four and a half rounds before he was caught in a submission and forced to tap out in round five. A star was born, but sadly, this was also the beginning of a truly bizarre series of events that leaves both UFC and Sonnen in an More >
The Harper Hype Tells Me Baseball Is Still Number One
May 25th
By Stephen Duell aka spuds1961
Not number one as far as sport in America but as far as card collecting goes, yes it is. Follow me for a little while and this will seem obvious. I can’t remember the last football or hockey or basketball rookie who has drawn as much attention as last year’s Strasburg cards and this year’s Harper. I know hockey has Taylor Hall and football has Tim Tebow and this year it is Cam Newton, basketball’s 10-11 class was very weak, can’t think of anybody, the 09-10 class had Griffin, Wall, Evans and Jennings, but that still More >
60 Years of Topps Baseball Countdown – #54: 2003 Topps
May 24th
By Drew Pelto aka *censored*
2003 was the worst year of my life. My college financial aid application got screwed up, resulting in me not getting any for the first semester of my sophomore year. My then best friend and I spent 7 months not talking to each other because of the world’s stupidest fight. My parents got divorced. The Yankees won the AL Pennant in a fashion typical of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry in the years when it resembled Hingis vs. Kournikova more than Ali vs. Frasier. I went to college in the middle of downtown Boston, and lived in More >
The PC That Changed Me
May 24th
By Alan Chen aka RiceBondsMntna2Rice
Martin St. Louis’ selection as a Hart Trophy finalist a few weeks ago and his electric performance in the playoffs so far make it as good a time as any to share with you the current state of my St. Louis PC and the journey I’ve taken to get here.
Collecting #26 has been a transformative experience that’s forced to me re-examine who I am as a collector. Surprisingly, this project has at times been a source of stress rather than an escape. For the first time in my collecting life, I’ve felt a nagging pressure to More >
