Please excuse any over-pontificating that I happen to do of this set, but let’s be serious here.  1987 was possibly the best year for cards in my lifetime.  The field was expanded to three companies and all three had something to set their set apart from the rest.  Topps and Fleer had great, simple, yet nice looking designs and Donruss… well, they were Donruss.  Donruss saves itself with the lone non-update issue Greg Maddux rookie card.

Wow, have I ever been busy. I just noticed it’s been almost a month since my last article. Unfortunately, it only gets worse as the NAHL season starts this week. Actually, that may be better– I have plenty of downtime on road trips.

2002 is another 2000’s year I’m not super excessively familiar with. Again, I was a hockey guy first and foremost through those years. Almost strictly hockey, but still checked out some baseball here and there. Plus, it was my senior year of high school going into my first year of college. And the Indians were dismantling their 90’s dynasty. And I was in a bowling league, and traveling a lot. So baseball cards weren’t exactly on my mind in a major way.
