Karine's Thoughts

In a nutshell, things I find interesting these days and happenings in our card collecting community!

  1. Who do I want to win the Cup now?

Well, my team is done, in fact the Habs have been done for nearly a week already. Just goes to show how wrong the playoffs went for them...So...who should I be rooting for now? There are quite a few players I like around the league and a few teams I wouldn't mind seeing lift Lord Stanley's Cup.

    1. New Jersey Devils
Yes I know, they're not through to round 2 yet but still I would really like to see Marty get the ultimate prize on the same year he broke the wins record, that ...

  2. Nothing to do with the hobby but...

I feel like blogging about this and so I will. Today on 22nd March 2009, I woke up to a rather sad headline, Jade Goody (a celebrity here in England) has died of cervical cancer. Yes I know many people die of cancer but not at 27 and not of a form of cancer which could have been cured if it had been found early enough.

Jade become famous here in 2002, just when I moved over. What did she do you say? Well, she was a reality TV star, yes one of those who get famous for nothing else

  3. From one Goaltender to Another

They say records are made to be broken…It was true for Patrick Roy when he won his 448th game to overtake Terry Sawchuk in the all-time wins category and it is still true today, after Martin Brodeur signed his 552nd win to become the winningest goaltender in the history of the NHL. Yes, last night on the 17th March 2009 Brodeur managed yet another great win and just like that he ...

  4. 2 Years Later...

I realized today that according to my profile; I joined SCF on the 20th March 2007. So, 2 years down the line what have I achieve? Well, I have received 282 feedbacks so far granted it's far from the immortal status but I still find that quite an impressive number considering that not everyone wants to make international trades. Still on the achievements front, I found myself a new passion when I started to write about the hobby, I thoroughly enjoy doing that and it's very nice and relaxing. However, ...

  5. How it all started...and re-started

I spend a fair amount of time looking around the blogs here on SCF to find good articles for the magazine and this morning, I came across an inspiring entry. In this entry one of our members was telling us how she got into collecting and as I really enjoyed her story, I thought I would share mine too...

The year was 1986, I was a very respectable 6 year old and we'd (me and my dad) had just finished watching the Cup final. A devoted Nordiques fan, he was far from being happy about ...
