  1. 2012 Allen & Ginter

Throughout the sports card Blogosphere (is that an actual word??) the past couple of weeks has been non-stop discussion of this year's Allen & Ginter set. This is the first year that I've actually paid attention to this unique set. I was mildly aware of the set in past years but couldn't be bothered when it came out. I thought 'who cares about a baseball set where a significant number of cards are of non-baseball subjects'. I chuckled in amusement as keeners tried to 'crack the code'. I ...

  2. Yard Sale Experience

I don't usually go to yard/garage sales. I've got nothing agains people who do. I guess everyone needs a past time and for some people they get up early every Saturday morning in the spring and summer and drive the streets of their community looking for bargains. After all, one person's junk is another person's treasure. I already have a toaster, and I don't have little kids, so there is generally nothing that I want that is offered at a yard sale. This warm Victoria Day weekend appears to ...

  3. Dempster's Bread Crosby Set

Yea, I know, it's been a while. Between work, vacation in sunny Florida and the home life, there hasn't been a lot of time for cards or this blog.

For those of you living in Canada, I'm sure that you've seen the Sydney Crosby Dempster's bread commercials. Within the last month Dempster's has started including Crosby cards with their breads. Of the 9 card set I have 3 cards. The cards are smaller in size than the standard card and are thinner. The pictures are of Crosby, though ...

  4. 2012 Topps

Ok, so the 2012 Topps Series 1 came out a few weeks ago. This marks the start of the 2012 baseball card collecting season. I guess one could say that this is 'Opening Day' in baseball collecting terms.

So, I thought I'd write about my thoughts on the set and what I've been seeing on the various trading sites and reading about the set in other people's blogs.
    • The base set has been nicknamed the surf board set. You know, it fits great. That swirly design in the corner does

  5. January Results

Ok, these are the results from the month of January in meeting the goals for 2012.

    • 62 total The Bench trades + 104 total SCF trades = 166 total trades. 34 trades over the remaining 11 months, which averages to just over 3 trades/month. This is going smoothly. I have 5 pending trades (and it's only the first week of February), so upon completion I'm ahead of schedule for February.
    • Nil 90's hockey inserts completed to date. I counted that I have 20 hockey inserts sets from the
