When I got the bug to collect

Rate this Entry
I had been a baseball fan since I was real young. My mother and father took me down in 1984 to Tiger Stadium for my first game. Has the game played out I realized this was a major game I was seeing. I watched has Alan Trammell, Kirk Gibson, Willie Hernandez, Lance Parrish, Tom Brookens and Darrel Evans and the cast of pitcher's plow through the other team. It was also awsome to see for the first time Sparky Anderson move his team around like he was in a chess match. Has the game came to a close I saw police on foot and on horse back surrounding the playing field. Has Willie throw the last pitch for a strike I realized that my parent's had just took me to the game that put the Tigers in the World Serie's. And all hell broke lose. My father picked me up like a sack of potato's to keep me from getting hurt ( I was 7 at the time). I saw the crowd explode on that final pitch. People were swarming the field to touch any thing they could, especially the player's. My parent's let me soke it all in for five minute's. Then we were on a charge to get out of there as fast as possible. While we headed down the ramp from the upperdeck behind third base I saw a man go down and some how broke his leg, I know he did because the bottom bone stuck out and ripped his pant's. I alway's hoped he was taken care of. In the street's it was all hell broke lose, people running, screaming, turn one car over( which happened to be the pic in the next day's news paper), being stuck in traffic around the stadium for a few our's. That was when I got hooked for life with the Tigers. It doe's not matter if they win or lose, I will alway's and forever be a HUGE TIGERS FAN.
