Baseball: The Game, Trading Cards, Fantasy Leagues and More

My First Day with my First Blog

Rate this Entry
Today sportscardforum.com got a new blog feature installed. I've never done the blog thing before but was always curious about whether I could sustain a semi-interesting blog. Well, I guess we're about to find out. I'll be getting some serious OBT (on the blog training) here. I expect that my writing style, blog appearance, etc. will undergo an evolution of sorts.

First, I've got to decide on what my blog will focus on. I thought about this for over 60 seconds and decided I'll blog about my efforts to inventory and complete my 2008 Topps Baseball set (especially before 2009 Topps Baseball arrives next month :party0053:).

For me, trying to inventory my 2008 Topps cards is a huge undertaking in itself. I have already started by downloading some Topps checklists for each series from blowoutcards.com (MS Excel format). I've also put the various series checklist spreadsheets in one Excel file (just more convenient that way for me). After rearranging some Topps Updates & Highlights cells and adding a background image, here is a sample of what I have so far:

btw, although I've had a working knowledge of Excel for a long time, this is the first time I've ever used it to inventory my cards. After the task of inventorying my 2008 cards is done, then I can write up a complete wantlist and tradelist to help me obtain the cards I need. Hopefully, I can regularly post here and complete this set in a somewhat timely manner (a few months maybe, given I've got quite a few other things going on in my life).

Well, I guess that's enough for today. Until my next blog post...see ya on the boards!

Awesome looking spread sheet. I too am versed in excel, but I've never seen a background on one. I'd be interested in knowing how you did that.
