After the bounty accusation and thereby prosecution, I believe the only way the Saints program can go from here is up. For one, signing Drew Brees is a start. By signing Drew, the Saints guarantee a Top 5 starting QB; possibly top 3. Besides Peyton and Tom Brady, where are you going to find a more reliable QB? Regardless of the accusations and suspensions, the re-signing of Drew Brees would nearly guarantee playoff contention. What other team could say this?
It's hard to believe that the best answer for defensive urgence would be to re-sign a offensive player, but in this case this is the answer. By suggesting the Saints will put up better numbers just because of one guy is a stretch, but how about a guy who has already won a super bowl and surpassed Dan Marino's passing yards in a season record? This is hard to deny, for proof look at Tom Brady's stats in the Super Bowls he has won, his defense was middle of the pack as far as the NFL was concerned which disapproves the stereotype that only, 'defense' wins championships. Drew Brees sets a new standard when it comes to this concern. His contract negotiation could solve every defensive problem which the Saints are currently struggling with.
There is no "I" in team but when it comes to Drew, one might search his name for an "I" after the performances which he has recorded in the past.
