Well 2011-12 Upper Deck The Cup is out and already the complaint emails are rolling in. It is very difficult for me to help anyone with this product as we are restricted by our Upper Deck Authorized Distributors. There are only two authorized distributors in Canada, one (in Quebec) is in bed with the guys southwest of us who get most of The Cup and the other (in the GTA) could only give us two tins. Another so-called distributor who isn't authorized by Upper Deck quoted us $419 a tin plus taxes ($474) for a case but that is another issue altogether. Now that being said, I feel for you Cup collectors (I'm not one but that is a personal collecting thing) who are being held up for Cup ransom by a store who pays less for Cup then the rest of us, gets the most and sells it for an exorbitant amount (do the words monopoly and unfair selling practices ring a bell ?). This on top of the fact that they crack it (we won't get into the hit debate again) instead of letting collectors get the product at a decent price and crack it for the hits. The pre-order price for The Cup for us was $322 plus taxes ($364), we don't buy a lot and are a small store so our discount isn't as good. We sold one of our tins for $410 (tax included) and we are using the other for a break so our other customers can get in on it at $41 (tax included) a 3 team spot. I see nothing wrong with the price we are charging for The Cup but can't understand why the guys who got the most and paid the least are hijacking the prices at $459.99 plus taxes (that is $520 a ing tin tax in !!). Its bad enough that they get the most but then they sell the tins at astronomical profit amounts. So much for the 'passion' and not the greed don't you think ? Now you can say what you want about the market and so on but when you get the most and pay the same price for all of it why can't you cut the collectors who want this product a break ? I only had two tins and I sold mine far below what they are selling theirs for and I can't replace it. Yes I could have put my two tins away for a week or two until demand increased and then charged $500 for a tin but why would I ? I am in this for the collectors not to put mega bucks in my pocket. I dare anyone to challenge me on this 'passion' versus 'greed' theory as the evidence is pretty easy to see.
