Well here we are on a Monday with the month of September almost gone and no hockey in sight. For hockey fans this is another disgusting kick in the teeth by the greedy powers that be. For hockey card collectors this means cards being issued with last year's pictures and no new rookies. For store owners like myself, on top of all that we are faced with trying to keep interest in hockey cards going. This is something that we do on a daily basis anyways by talking product goods and bads with customers everyday but how do you chat up something that you can't get into ? The 2004-05 hockey card season was a dismal failure with crappy products from Upper Deck and the others. The only positive for me was the Franchises release from In The Game that gave us a look at some old timers and some photos never seen before. In The Game will continue to be a positive with its newest coming release 'Forever Rivals' which features the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens. Cards with Dave Keon, Jean Beliveau, Rocket Richard and more plue autos and memorabilia. ITG will then follow this up with what could be the best product yet 'History of Hockey' featuring authentic rookies from some of the biggest names in the game including Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky, Mario lemieux, Patrick Roy, Georges Vezina, Darryl Sittler and so many more. I can't wait for this gem !! Dominion is coming out at the end of the week from Panini and from all indications will be decent but after dismal showings from Ultimate, Prime and The Cup it may hold some people back waiting to buy up signle cards cheap on ebay. We will be doing our spot breaks at decent prices and giving three teams per spot. This events have sold out quickly because of the very card friendly pricing we offer and the fun it creates. Hopefully everything goes well and on the lockout/strike front reality finally clicks in. That is it for now. Happy Collecting
