Lets Help Induct Virgil Trucks Into The MLB Hall Of Fame!

Virgil "Fire" Trucks is well known by many of us here on SCF. He was a great baseball player, great autograph signer, but most importantly he was a great guy and cared about each and every one of his fans. So I think the least we can do, is try to petition MLB to give Mr.Trucks his long overdue induction in the MLB hall of fame.

    A little confused here. Why?

    If the HOF had a veterans wing, then maybe he should be featured prominently with other guys who served, but induction into the HOF? Not nearly enough wins, strikeouts, or any other metric that can be argued as HOF worthy. Heck, the only things he ranks in the top 20 in TIGERS history for are shutouts (10th) and walks (also 10th).

    Until a guy like Jim Kaat is elected, and after him about 15-20 other guys, then maybe, kinda, sorta should we consider Virgil. His number isn't even retired by the Tigers, and they have a ways to go before they do... Trammell and Whitaker have MUCH more of a HOF case than Trucks.

    Not sure I can sign that petition... but it was a fun start to a discussion!
