2013-14 SCORE Hockey

Rate this Entry
Well the S%&T will hit the fan and the I told you sos will start. All the bragging about a double rookie crop in 2013-14 thanks to the lockout/strike has claimed its first victim. Those who thought that things would go on as if nothing happened next season are being proven wrong. I just saw the pre-order prices for 2013-14 SCORE HOCKEY and to say I had to check the prices three times is not a lie. A 2012-13 hobby box with 36 packs which we sold for $28 this past year will now cost almost $60 !! This is a disgrace to card collectors everywhere and stinks much like the 2012-13 O-Pee-Chee hockey. When Upper Deck abandoned its VICTORY hockey product leaving base collectors with only SCORE hockey from Panini as a buck a pack product I thought this was a tactical mistake by Upper Deck. Now SCORE will rival O-Pee-Chee (if it comes out again) for price point and leave no buck a pack product in hockey. Simply put this is nothing but greed on behalf of the card companies to try to recover what they lost this past season and make us collectors fill their pockets. This hobby never ceases to amaze with the greedy lengths it will go too. Yes I am angry

There's 2 versions of Score being released as far as I know, the regular retail version and the better-with-more-stuff-in-it version, I'm pretty sure the $60 is for the second one, no?

AND in 1989 a box of OPC went for $12.60 at the drug store. In 1990 a box of Upper Deck was something like $60+.........the sky didn't come crashing down then and it won't now ...............

The $60 is the price for the same hobby box with 36 packs of cards. There is also the new Jumbo version plus the same versions as last year blaster, gravity feed and rak pak. Only the Jumbo version is new for this year from last. And yes while the sky won't come crashing down our SCORE customers have ALL cancelled for this year. Not a single Score collector from last year wants to pay $60 for a box.

If that's indeed the case, you win this round sir. Last year's Score was barely worth the buck & change..........
