Hello all, I figured with my first blog entry I would go back in time. This will take you all the way back to 1998 before the game-used and autograph hype. In 1998 I was a thirteen year old kid with little money to spend. I didn't let that keep from kicking my collecting into high gear with all the affordable cards on the market. I was lucky that many times my mom and I would go to Wal-Mart she would let me pick out a pack of cards. My pack of choice was usually Topps with a price tag of $1.30 for eleven cards. Then it wasn't about finding a game-used or autographed card, it was about the thrill of finding that new Saint Louis Cardinal for my collection. If all the card companies still existed that did back in 1998 without all the game-used and autographs that are chased now we could have a stronger collecting industry. With the wide variety of cards we had more competition so we had more card companies catering to younger kids with the more affordable prices.
