It wasn't so long ago that I tagged Lane Kiffin with the nickname, "Wisteria Lane", after the street made famous by the TV series, "Desperate Housewives". Tonight, Kiffin is trying to figure out 1) his next move and 2) what went wrong at USC.

This morning, Kiffin was fired as head coach at USC after the Trojans were blown out of the park by Arizona State to the tune of 62-41. Former Mississippi coach Ed Orgeron is the interim coach, but whomever takes over full-time has a tall order in front of him.

This is three head coaching gigs that Kiffin has blown in less than 10 years. There was the debacle in Oakland that left him in the crosshairs of the late Al Davis. He lasted maybe a year in Tennessee before taking the money and fleeing west while the NCAA was prepared to investigate possible violations against the Volunteers. Kiffin was a month into his 4th season at USC, and started the year with a new defensive coordinator because his father, Monte, who had the job, left for the same gig in Dallas with the Cowboys.

It can be argued that Kiffin was perhaps in over his head in LA with one of the elite programs in college football, and once his father decided to return to the NFL, the handwriting had to be on the wall.

USC started the Pac-12 portion of the season 0-2 after the blowout loss to Arizona State. The alumni, the fans, and the board of trustees couldn't wait until the end of the season after seeing how poorly USC played against a conference foe.

In the end, it can be surmised that Kiffin might not be suited to be a head coach again. An offensive coordinator, maybe, but not the head man. His 15 minutes just ran out.
