The Life of Ash

Meet Talla

Rate this Entry
A big part of my life is my little girl, Talla. Although she is a guinea pig she is just like a daughter to me. She is a brownish color teddy.

It all started on December 26, 2007. That is the day she came to live with me. Once seeing her in the petstore I knew she was the one I'd bring home. Now over a year later theres so much to say about her.

I didnt know it at the time but a few months later she had three beautiful little boys. Yep, we kept them all..names: Richie (Richmond), Daytona, Cali (California) [All named after Nascar tracks].

I'll start with she's the sweetest little pig. She loves to give kisses and hugs. Although, her hugs are quite scary sometimes (she runs and jumps up around my neck). She loves her mommy a lot.

Talla knows what she wants and wants it exactly when she wants it. She is a big baby and likes to whine. I'm usually woken up around the same time every morning to give her some grass. If I dont get up she'll keep getting louder until I do. Usually Tal likes to sit on my right shoulder but sometimes I put her on the left. When I do this she'll whine and cry until I let her over on the other side. Its so cute. She never bites unless she has to use the bathroom. Its her way of telling me she needs back in her cage.

She is usually pretty clean and keeps her cage that way. The other pigs scatter their grass and spill their food all over the place but not Talla. She is just like her mommy-clean and organized. She likes to cuddle up in her blankie fleece or get inside her little fleece bed bag. Oh, and she also loves sitting in the hood of my Brian Vickers hoodie. Yes, she's a huge fan too. :) She loves playing with socks. I hang them from the top of her cage and she'll pull them down and throw them for hours.

Talla has got to be one of the most lazy piggies. During playtime she normally wont play with the other girls much...she just sits there and watches. She likes to pull her food bowl over to where she lays so she can lay there and eat at the same time. Its pretty funny.

All piggies need their veggies. Some eat certain things better than others. At first Talla didnt like much...probably because she had never had it before (living at the petstore and all). Now she loves almost anything..lettuce, kale, parsley, and green peppers are her favorites. The leafer and greener the better, she says.

Talla is really healthy but she's had a few problems. When I brought her home she had mange mites but I couldnt do anything for her because of the babies. She got pretty bad...tons and tons of fur fell out (half of her weight is probably fur..yeah, she has THAT much!) and she had scabbies all over. Then she got a yeast infection in her ears. Then the vet didnt know what was wrong with her back after that. She was given some medicine and it cleared up. Nothing since.

I treat Talla like a little person. We have converstaions and talk all the time. She worries a lot and always makes sure I (and Aunt Shayne) gets everything done. We watch TV together, play wii together, and trade cards together. I have to be careful though or she'll try to eat them. hah

Now that I've had her for over a year I cant imagine my life without her. She is my best friend and more than anything I ever thought she'd be. She is perfect in every way.

Look how beautiful she is!
