Boy what a hot topic issue right now. We usually get about one or two emails asking about 'Rookie' clarification a week and lately it seems to be one or two a day. First let me say don't trust the card companies who slap the word 'ROOKIE' around or put 'RC' on cards at will. They have a very vested interest in driving people to their product and driving prices up for them. Years ago at least half of these so called rookie cards (Pacific, Ultra, Topps) actually weren't rookies at all. Now it is simply a case of production costs, headaches and terminology. Only one regular issue card per product from a 'rookie' year is considered an actual rookie card. Parallels, Signature cards, jersey cards and other variations are simply considered rookie year issues. Just because the card company put an RC on a card doesn't mean it is. The same goes for guys selling these cards. They know that these aren't actual rookie cards but for their own purpose namely money, they use it or justify it. To clarify even further, nothing from the Tim Horton's cards is a rookie card despite several listings I've seen claiming such. Do you homework, check the Beckett and if that fails ask us. Don't trust just the guy selling the card because there is a good chance his answer will be money driven. And not your money !
