Forget Johnny Football! He's Johnny Immature!

Johnny Manziel came out of college too soon.
By all rights, he should be a senior at Texas A & M, which hasn't set the world on fire since he left following his sophomore season. Talent is one thing, but being mature enough to actually play in the NFL, much less the CFL, is another thing altogether, and Manziel is one of a bazillion players who came out too early, spurred on by the predictable cadre of hangers-on and other leeches to chase the money. Last year, he was on football card wrappers and did a ridiculous Snickers commercial, posing as an aerobics instructor. This year? No endorsements, and he's been taken to school by opposing defenses who think he's all show and no go. So far, save for some flashes of brilliance, they've been proven right.
While you can take the frat boy off campus and make him a pro athlete, for every Rob Gronkowski, there seems to be at least a dozen of the Manziel variety. Gronk looks like a frat boy, and probably was. Manziel? He gets caught on camera partying a wee bit too hard, and he gets demoted to 3rd string, playing behind not only Josh McCown, but also Austin Davis, as of yesterday.
Now, I've also believed that Tampa Bay's Jameis Winston came out too soon, especially with the off-field baggage that piled up last year at Florida State. There's been no new drama getting in the way of his rookie season with the Bucs, and he just torched Philadelphia for 5 TDs four days ago. Winston is going about his business the right way. Manziel wouldn't know the difference between the right way and the wrong way, even if someone used Oliver Hardy's recital of that phrase as a ringtone on his phone.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if by next spring, Manziel will be dealt somewhere so the Browns can trade up to get someone else. It's either that, or he gets released. However, before another NFL team takes a chance on him, there's one piece of advice they need to give his agent, whomever that is. Send him back to school so he can finally grow up.
