Atlanta Thrashers

Well, it began much like any other Thrashers game, getting behind early.

In the first period, T. Ruutu (CAR) had his 17th goal to put the Hurricanes up 1-0 at 13:54. Then almost immediately, S. Samsonov (CAR) had his 13th goal of the season making it 2-0 Carolina at 15:35.

In the second, there was only one goal at the very end of the period at 19:26 by I. Kovalchuk (ATL) giving him his 33rd on the season, cutting it to 2-1 Hurricanes.

The third period was very exciting! It started off with a Carolina goal by A. Babchuk (CAR), at 1:41 on the power play to make it 3-1 Hurricanes. Then, at 10:52, R. Peverley (ATL), scored his 9th of the year making it 3-2. Then at 13:57, T. White (ATL) scored his 17th of the season to tie the game at 3-3. However, the Thrashers just began their attack! At 18:32, R. Peverley (ATL) scored his 2nd of the game and 10th on the year on the Atlanta power play to make it 4-3 Thrashers, giving them their first lead of the game. However, at 19:57, with the Carolina empty net for the extra skater, I. Kovalchuk (ATL) scored his 2nd of the game giving him his 34th of the season to end it at 5-3 Thrashers. Along with I. Kovalchuk's (ATL) 2 goals in the game, he had 3 assists, giving him 37 on the season.


Next game is Tuesday, March 3rd, at home against the Florida Panthers.
