Ripped Off on eBay?

Usually it is vintage cards that are most often lied about and misrepresented. The card might look like crap, but the seller uses words like "Looks good to me!" or Wow!-followed by numerous exclamation points. That's a clue- the more of these-!!!!! the more he's trying to hook you. Another trick that sellers use is to say something like "I'm not a professional grader, but...", even though they've been selling cards for a long time, and know very well what Mint, Near Mint, etc., looks like.

This is a group for me :) since I do buy cards from ebay....and I've already came across a seller who said.."I'm not a professional grader, but..." which is BS....like you said mudvillecards it's either mint nm etc....even though I have been selling for alot of years on ebay "not the seller name I am using now" it's best to fess up to the real condition and provide a good picture....love how some people will hide the defect behind a flash shot or have a picture so bad it looks like you just had a 12 pack...lol

I bid on a Donovan McNabb jersey which I intended to give as a Christmas present. The seller stated that the jersey was autographed by McNabb and that he had "... personally obtained the autograph from McNabb".
At the last possible moment allowed by Ebay the seller withdrew the listing. I was high bidder at the time and prepared to go higher if necessary.
I contacted the seller who then replied that " The guy I was listing it for did not like the way the bidding was going so he asked me to pull the item."
So, the seller either lied about having personally obtained the autograph or he lied about listing the jersey for someone else.
I registered a complaint with Ebay but in over two weeks I have not received a response.

I only buy autographed items from ebay that are certified by PSA/DNA or JSA now because of what happened in 2009. The seller listed a signed 8x10 mini poster for UFC 81 which has Sylvia, Nogueira, Mir, and Lesnar on it. All were signed in silver sharpie under their headshots. The seller said he attended the event and had it personally signed and guarantees it will pass any authentication. Well...long story short, I sent it to PSA/DNA to get certified and what do you know...they all come back negative. All 4 of the signatures were forged. I contacted the seller every day for a month about his poster not passing authentication, but he never responded until a month later and said "Too bad." I was able to get a refund through a PayPal dispute though so it all worked out. I still have the picture though after all this time.
