Some of the nicer pulls in Fleer Retro basketball do sell at high prices, especially the PMGs.
It's not just the Lebrons at $8,000, but guys like Laimber at $150 and Worthy around $400. Those who bought the product early, before box prices rose, did extremely well for themselves. I'm not sure that the same will happen with hockey, though, at least until we know the beginning price for boxes.

Metal Universe when released in the mid-90's are some cool cards. One of the very nicest base sets ever produced.

I wouldn't touch this product at 300$. We're talking about Dominion/Cup/Superlative prices

If you like them, that's great, but other than the Nuge, those cards are ugly as sin.

I think some of it is nostalgia, as well as a welcome break from yet another jersey/auto card release.
I've personally always found the Jambalaya cards way too gaudy, but those from the basketball release of Fleer Retro sell very well. They just make my eyes sore.
