Like most Americans you ignore the first part. Add "because" to the beginning and you've got what it says. As soon as you had a standing army, the second ammendment became old and pointless.

Please show me the part in the constitution or bill of rights where is says once we get standing army the common man will no longer have the right to own a firearm.

That makes very little sense. Why would the government need the common man's help? They have the largest standing army in the world and it's all over the world.

You just answered your own question, its all over the world. Where as the average US citizen with a firearm lives here he/she would be the first line of defense.

Really? You think the government is sitting there saying "Damn! I want to attack our people with our massive army and drone attackas, but some of them have guns! IT CAN'T BE DONE!"

If you think the second ammendment is what's keeping the government in check, you need to get your head in check. What keeps the government in check is the fear of losing their jobs. Your votes do more to keep the government in check than any gun could. If you hadn't spent your whole life being brainwashed to thing gun=invincibility, you'd realize that. Guns don't = incibility but the gov't knows that we will not go down without a fight.

Sure, it's right at the beginning:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state

Since you have a standing army, a well regulated militia is no longer necessary to the security of a free state.\

You just answered your own question, its all over the world. Where as the average US citizen with a firearm lives here he/she would be the first line of defense.

Yes, it is all over the world. You do realize the US is part of the world, right? Your army is everywhere and every piece of it is quite mobile. With who you have at home (not citizens) di you think any country could do anything of consequence before the reserves overseas got back?

Guns don't = incibility but the gov't knows that we will not go down without a fight.

It amazes me how in the same post you say your army is incapable of defending the nation and then go on to say the only reason it isn't randomly killing citizens is because some have guns.
Is the army so incompitent it can't protect Americans?
Or is it so good it can kill American citizens with no reprisal if those citizens aren't packed?

    Make up your mind.

You still didn't answer the question. I want to know where in the constitution or BOR does it say that after an army is formed the citizens right to bare armes will be revoked.

They still have to travel back. Foreign countries know that we as Americans love to pack heat and they will have to deal with the citizens and if there is anything left the military will finish them off.

1: It says a well-formed militia being necessary to etc. That MEANS as long as, or because, or due to. It is outdated.
2: If you honestly believe an attacking army is going to hold back because "the people have guns" you're dreaming. You really and truly are. The army you have at home could destroy your population if it so desired.
3: Wrong. The government needed access to men and weapons at the time and this was how. By telling Americans it's "a right to bear arms" they said "you're our army if we need you" and nothing more.
    They don't need you anymore.
And again, how is the government so inept it can't get its army back to defend it and needs it people, but so crafty it has the ability to attack its own citizens with no reprisal if you don't have a gun?

As usual, you're looking at this too simply. If you took out the second amendment and replaced it with one that ACTUALLY SAYS what you all claim the second amendment does, I'd be happy (well, happier). Right now, you're just lying to yourselves about what you're "rights" are supposed to be and hiding behind a politically driven decision that came from SCOTUS.

What exactly do you mean 'too big for its britches'?

At what point do you need to get your gun and shoot someone?
    Because they've raised some taxes?
Because they've declared unnecessary wars abroad?
    Why?

You seem very paranoid that your government hates you and your neighbours constantly want to break in and steal all of your stuff.

The weird thing is, on a person to person basis, they're really no different from anyone else. Why they distrust themselves so much is beyond me.

    hello,

have you seen all the shootings and crime over here? it does not mean to live in fear, but have some sense. why do you think the rape crimes are going up at colleges? people walk around and think nothing will ever happen and/or our too busy on the cellphone to see anything that may or may not happen.

does this mean carry a gun everywhere you go? for me no, but it means have some common sense. stay where it is safe when you can, look around. look in your car before you get in, look at your house when you pull up. you don't have to be a ninja, just have some awareness.

if you own a gun to fight our own army, then I am unsure what to say. don't most of us have relatives, friends, the children of friends in the armed forces? drones, tank, missiles, gernades, you are better off not being there when they come.
