Wetback has been a nasty slur since about 1978 or slightly earlier.

Not to veer off topic but I remember a couple of years ago on NBA TV there was a mild controversy when one of the announcers referred to Yao Ming as a chinaman. Appearantely Chinese people are offended by that name.

They are. As it was explained to me, someone from Sweden is a Swede not a Swedenman. A person from the US is an American not an Americaman. A person from China is a Chinese person not a Chinaman.
I remember years ago an announcer losing his job after shouting "Look at that little monkey run!" during a black RB's big yardage play.

Do you mean what happened to Howard Cosell?
During the Halftime Highlights segment of Monday Night Football on September 24, 1973 Cosell said "Look at that little monkey run!" when describing a 97-yard kickoff return by Washington Redskins player Herb Mul-Key during the Sunday game against the St. Louis Cardinals. There was no outcry over this comment.
But during a Monday Night Football telecast on September 5, 1983, Cosell said of Washington Redskins wide receiver Alvin Garrett, "That little monkey gets loose, doesn't he?" The Rev. Joseph Lowery, then-president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, denounced Cosell's comment as racist and demanded a public apology, but Cosell refused, citing his past support for black athletes and stating that "little monkey" was an affectionate term he had used in the past for diminutive white athletes (including Mike Adamle, for whom Cosell was on record using the term 11 years prior), as well as for his own grandson. Cosell left the Monday Night Football booth following the 1983 season, citing his waning interest in professional football.Selling All My Cards Here------>Hidden Content

Ha....and the GOP is still wondering why the Hispanic community voted for Obama in such an overwhelming number.
As a Hispanic-American surrounded by a large majority of other Hispanics here in Miami, FL.....let me tell you, they are NOT going to change their thinking about the GOP anytime soon.
You don't treat us like second class citizens for decades and then expect us to change.
They can even get that CLOWN Rubio to run for president and Hispanics will still not be swayed.
Finally, as a Latino, all I can say to this vile, good-for-nothing, waste of a human being is.....screw you and your party.
