This Is Why Alternative Religions Should Not Be Taught In Public Schools...
...because idiots who don't know what they are talking about try to be liberal and PC and teach things incorrectly.
Yesterday my 10 year old comes home and informs me that they celebrate Christmas in Pakistan, only they celebrate it in July.
After some questioning I finally figure out that his idiot teacher is teaching the kids that Ramadan is Christmas for Pakistani people.
I then spent the next 15 minutes explaining that the religion of Pakistan is Islam and they do not celebrate Christmas. I also explained what Ramadan is and how it differs from Christmas.
Just wanted to share that with everyone. Merry Ramad...uh, Christmas to all :)

Either teach all religions equally or don't teach any religion at all. Yes it appears that your child's teacher had no earthly idea what he/she was talking about but that is a sign of an overall lack of religious knowledge and understanding in our country.Drug and smoke free trading.

I'm inclined to agree. Why are they trying to teach 10 year olds about Ramadan anyways?

I think the teacher was trying to be PC and draw a parallel between Christmas and Ramadan (to show how we are all alike) but came off as saying that they are the same. She also didn't explain what Ramadan was because when I explained it to my son he had not heard the word or a description of what it is from the teacher. She literally presented Ramadan as the Pakistani Christmas.
I would make a big deal about it but then I would be on the national news portayed as an evil right-wing anti-Islamic person...
Yeah and it isn't a recognized holiday. They have a holiday on Dec. 25 but it is a government holiday celebrating the founder of Pakistan.Last edited by duane1969; 12-22-2011 at 11:00 AM.

No, that's why idiots should not be allowed to teach in public schools.
