My first Gretzky 1/1 Auto
So, Ive been pretty steady adding to my Gordie Howe collection, up to about 90 1/1s and thought it would be a nice change to throw a Wayner into the mix. Grabbed this one off ebay for relatively cheap, $500, very happy with the pickup. Just curious, was Gretz supposed to add in his 'Favorite Recording Artist'?

Maybe he has a lovely voice, so he is his own favorite artist.

I've seen a couple Bobby Orrs, "recording artist" and "hero," both of them with just a signature as well. Is there nothing on the back about any personal info?
Oh yeah, almost forgot, AWESOME card :)

Nothing on the back other than the standard UD nonsense.

You know, the standard: 'We swear to the autograph on the front of this cards authenticity, as sworn by someone of ours who may have been there while he signed it or talked to someone Wayne knows who swears he really signed it and it isn't a stamp like some of those other "authentic" signatures out there. Because at Upper Deck we want to keep you as close to , what we assume is, the real thing.'

All kidding aside, it's a beauty of a card. Congrats big time!

The personal touch autos were supposed to have things such as favourite recording artists, favourite food, etc... inscribed on them by the athletes. On some of the cards, this is the case. There are however, an alarming number of them which only have the signature.
Obviously this was not explained to the athletes. They must have simply been mailed the cards and expected by Upper Deck to know what to do with them without instuctions.
Another fine Job by UD.
Great looking card in any case though.
