Something to say to the military away from home

Hey gang,

Just wanted to post something here to get people to send a Thank You greeting card to our troops stationed overseas.

I learned about this some months back. It's free and only takes a few minutes to do (three easy steps). Xerox is the sponsor for this and they actually send a printed postcard that you send (about 30 cards to choose from). It would be a GR8 boost to our troops stationed overseas, away from home. Postcards sent through the site are included in care packages delivered to units currently stationed overseas by military support organization Give2TheTroops.

You can send as many postcards as you would like, you are only asked to vary the postcard and message inside some so there is a variety being sent to the soldiers.

Here's the link: Create a free Thank You greeting cards for the Troops In Iraq

Some of you may not support the war, but PLEASE think about the troops overseas doing a job. With the holidays coming up… I am pretty sure they would love to get some more cards from the people here at home showing you that your care about them. I want everyone that gets one to know that I am Thankful for all they are doing to help make America safe and hopefully the world a better place for my grandchildren to live!!!

Les (:->

PS: It is 100% coincidental… my wife’s company was sold recently and as of November 10, 2006… she is now a Xerox employee!!! lol

Thanks for thinking of us guys forward.

I myself am one of the troops that you talk about. If you wanted to adopt a certain unit or base that is cool too. We get cards occasionally but sending care packages with nice things inside is really nice also. Alot of young troopers aren't going to get anything for Christmas and that hurts.

Just wanted to add my two cents.

ps.
Don't forget about those guys in Afghanistan.

I am also one of the forward deployed SAILORS out here, unfortunately (don't take this the wrong way), we don't get to see any of the care pacakges that get sent out, expect the ones from our families. All the packages that people send anonymously or personally go to the guys who deserve them the most, the guys on the ground in the trenches. Good Bless us all, it takes a lot out of you being away from what your used to everyday.

I'm in the AF and returned from Ramstein Air Base a year ago after a four year tour. During that four years I went on two 4-month rotations to Iraq and went to some other places and really enjoyed getting the greeting cards and notes of appreciation from people from all walks of life. we really enjoyed all the girl scout cookies that were sent to Iraq :becky: .

My wife would send me a package once every two weeks or so when i was deployed just to raise my morale. She'd hide a pack of cards or two in the box too...she knew I liked those. :becky:
