Question Need advice on converting old trade bait

Seems my trade box is overflowing into other boxes and I need to downsize...I know most everyone on this site are seasoned vets, many with as many years in as I have (um..25-30). I want to find out what you think is the best way to convert those minor - decent valued items to cash/better cards.

My thought at this point is that alot of the cards may not get much attention as singles, but to team collectors (do they still exist?) these would be pretty sweet lots. I am thinking of putting them in $100 lots on the bay with $75 worth of inserts/rcs/GU/autos and $25 worth of base for opening bids of $19.99 hoping that I can turn that $18 (after fees) into a $90 card. Do you think I am all wet? Do you have better suggestions. Any input (other then calling me names) is greatly appreciated!

Remember if you do that on ebay, people on ebay want something for nothing. You could always package them and list them here. I like the idea by the way. I still collect inserts. Of course some teams won't sell, regardless. Good luck.

My old man donated his cards that he was over to a charity and took full value for them in his taxes. Not sure that you can still do that with the tax laws but worth looking into.

Thanks for the thoughts...I usually use a 20% guideline when I bid on ebay myself, I win some I don't but that's where I came up with the 19.99 then getting a $90 card with the $18...

I have done the donation thing myself, usually to a little league I am a board member of, but most of my cards are football rather then baseball, so I'm not sure I would do that...but it's still a consideration.

As far as selling on here...I personally wouldn't expect any higher prices here then e-bay and it always annoys me to see someone sign up at a trading site just to sell..not so much after they have done several trades, though.

I have had limited success trading team lots though even though I got hit pretty hard f people asking for Yankees, big rookies, or members of specific colleges which I don't have a problem with, I just don't follow college to know where they come from.

So far I think trading team lots will be my first strategy then follow with e-bay, then depending on what I have maybe donating them...anyone else with any ideas?

Well heres my thought. take your best cards and make a lot that way. The more bang for the buck usually gets more attention. than say 5 lots with one good card and the rest people will just throw away. If your want a bidding war put them on ebay if you wanna get fast cash maybe posting here for a few days then ebay.
