Kobe has become Vince Young's (NFL) mentor

Over the years, Kobe Bryant has become a de facto mentor to Vince Young.

Young would write text messages to Bryant, something like, "Man, I wanna play so bad. What do I do?'' The answer would always come back from Bryant with something like this: "Stay focused. Work on your craft."

As Young told SI's Peter King last week: "That's what I needed -- someone I respected, like him or Brett Favre, to tell me everybody goes through tough times. Adversity comes, work hard, work on your game, and you'll come out of it OK.''

That's pretty cool...I wonder if Kobe has been what's kept Young's head on his shoulders.

Thanks for sharing... Didn't know that Kobe had such an impact on his life.

It's really cool to see Vince Young regain his confidence and regain the starting QB spot for the Tennessee Titans. On MNF, they said that he has won 7 straight games in a row as a starter. That's the third longest streak in the NFL... Only Peyton Manning and Drew Brees have longer streaks.
