I'm right there with you... I'm still waiting for a few of those cards to surface though! I have yet to really be gouged throughout the whole process.

well... another month in the books, and I have to say, I am a little surprised. maybe Beckett just isn't what it used to be, but very few people have contacted me with Matt Ware cards because of the article. its been good old fashioned hunting on the boards and the bay. this was a pretty successful month, and hopefully... if the guy is legit... there will be an absolutely enormous update coming in the next few days.
to the numbers...!
JULY update.
July was a pretty decent month.
This month I received 24 cards. Ebay was pretty good this month, with about half my cards coming from the bay.
Also, two other boards netted FREEBIES! I can't explain how forums have completely changed the feel of collecting for me. It has become fun again, not a frustrating, cash-draining enterprise that it was for a few years. I check about a dozen different forums every day, and each one has at least been a bit beneficial. I've been able to help out other great collections and collectors too, and so many people are pretty good guys and gals.
24 cards added July 2010 (2,705 total)
19 RC cards added July 2010
19 serial numbered cards added July 2010
15 serial numbered RC cards added July 2010
HIGHLIGHTS:
a great purchase from syndicatesportscards on ebay netted me...
10 (!) 2004 Donruss Classics #223 RC's, each numbered to /925. 6 of them were numbered 914 or higher, kinda an interesting coincidence. FYI, this puts me at 99 (!) of the 925 of these.
hopefully soon, 2004 Donruss Classics #223 will become the 4th serial numbered RC of Matt's that I will have 100 of, joining...
2004 Reflections #264 (144 of 1150)
2004 SP Authentic #103 (105 of 1199)
2004 SPx #132 (136 of 1650)
I'll have to post a serial numbered percentage update sometime soon!
picked up a couple of cards I don't see all that often anymore either...
one 2004 Bowman Chrome Refractor #163 /500
one 2004 Bowman Chrome Xfractor #163 /250
one 2004 Topps Chrome Uncirculated Xfractor #262 /279... it was pointed out to me that this card was previously serial numbered to /250, and you can clearly see where it was first stamped as such by Topps in the holder. I'll have to go through my others, as I now have 54 of the 279.
MILESTONES:
one big milestone this month: CARD #2,700!!!
nothing major in terms of what card it was...
2004 Topps Total Silver #424, my 43rd of this issue. only 295 cards to go to get to my goal of 3,000 Matt Ware cards by the end of the year!
Thanks for checking in, and I'll see you all next month, unless I have some big news!Last edited by jrlebert; 08-01-2010 at 02:52 PM.
