Call2Recycle, the only free battery and cell phone collection program in North America, is hockey fans in Ontario to turn in their used batteries and cell phones on Saturday.

In return, NHL legend Guy Lafleur will sign autographs and take pictures.
The event takes place at the CN Tower before the Toronto Blue Jays-Baltimore Orioles game Saturday.
“We’ve been helping Ontarians divert rechargeable batteries from landfills for more than a decade, and this summer we expanded our program to include collection of all household batteries throughout the province,” said Joe Zenobio, executive director of Call2Recycle – Canada. “We hope that our expanded program will help Ontarians make battery recycling a part of their green habits.”

Each person who brings at least one battery to the collection drive at the CN Tower will receive an autographed postcard of Lafleur. Additional prizes will be awarded for larger amounts of batteries:
For two kilograms of batteries, you’ll get an 8×10 signed photo. For ten, you’ll receive a stick. 50 kilos can be exchanged for an autographed LeFleur stick and if you’ve been hoarding batteries to the tune of 250 kilos, you might win a trip to Montreal to see a Canadiens game.
Thee Toronto collection drive is part of MyCall2Recycle, a consumer awareness campaign created by Call2Recycle to educate everyone in North America about the importance and ease of battery recycling.
