    Alceste Success Thread

I'm primarily going after baseball players from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. All were sent ICs. I like how this medium gives them lots of room to add inscriptions. Here's how I'm doing so far. I'll add successes as they come in.

    Yogi Berra: Pending from 10/16/10
Bob Gibson: Pending from 10/16/10 (Probably wasted stamps on this one)
Bob Feller: 11 days. Included $10
    Stan Musial: Seven Days
Monte Irvin: 19 Days. Included $10
    Phil Caverretta: 10 Days.
Virgil Trucks: Nine days. He added a signed card and stat sheet.
Bobby Doerr: Nine days. He added a signed card.
Whitey Ford: Failure. Sent a note requesting $25.
    Tommy Lasorda: Pending from 10/21/10
Carl Erskine: 13 Days. He added a signed card.
Don Newcombe: 14 Days. Sent his own signed IC.
    Andy Pafko: Pending from 10/22/10.
Luis Aparicio: Pending from 10/25. Sent C/O the HOF.
    Jim Landis: 30 Days.
    Roger Craig: Pending from 10/25.
    Random Jackson: Six days.
Minnie Minosa: 19 Days. Included $5
    Don Zimmer: Ten days.
    Jim Rivera: Five days.
    Stanley Glenn: Pending from 10/28/10.
    Mahlon Duckett: 15 Days.
John "Mule" Miles: Nine Days. Added two more ICs. Included $5.
    Buddy Lewis: 11 Days.
Pete Rose: Failure. Returned unsigned. I was about a year too late on this one.
    Vin Scully: Pending from 11/1.
    Millito Navarro: 12 Days.
    Ralph Branca: Pending from 11/1.
    Al Rosen: Six days.
Ed Stevens: Seven Days. Added a signed glossy 8X10.
    Ed Roebuck: Pending from 11/2.
Danny McDevitt: Pending from 11/5. (Deceased)
    Marty Martion: Seven days.
    Bobby Shantz: Seven Days.
    Duane Pillette: Eight Days.
    Bobby Richardson: Pending from 11/8.
    Bob Friend: Eight Days.
Joe B Scott: Pending from 11/12.
    Billy Pierce: Three Days.
    Eddie Yost: 11 Days.
    Red Shoendeinst: Pending from 12/1.

Received Bob Friend and Duane Pillette ICs in the mail today. Friend inscribed the card "1960 WS Champion" and "Pitched that last game against the Giants in the Polo Grounds, Sept 1957." I asked him to inscribe something about pitching the last game against the Giants; I am extremely happy about this one as he was very cool to have done that. I'm sending him a thank you letter.

I'm taking the Pillette IC and sending it to Billy Pierce, asking him to add his sig. I want to have both guys that pitched in the last game for the St Louis Browns. Recognize a theme here?

Received my IC card, previously signed by Duane Pillette, from Billy Pierce. These two pitchers each went 11 innings in the last game for the St Louis Browns in 1953. The team moved to Baltimore the following season. I love that old Browns logo.

Received Jim Landis back in 31 days who added the cool inscription without being asked. He also answered my question about if the 1959 White Sox could beat the 2005 team by saying that the 59 team would win because they had better pitching and defense.

Thanks. I found an old IC I had from Luke Appling from a TTM 20 years ago, and I decided to send more. I like being able to have something from the old players and of teams that don't exist any more.

Received my IC back from "the Walking Man" Eddie Yost today with the inscription "1st Batter." I asked him to add that to the card as he was the first batter ever for the Los Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels of Anaheim. I'm going to send the card to Milt Pappas asking to add his sig since he pitched against Yost in that first AB. It seems Pappas is a good TTMer, so I'm not risking my card too much.
