The Bump Rule as applied in P&R
There's been a lot of jibber jabber back and forth about this rule being enforced in here. It will be enforced as the rules of the site state, but there are some differing opinions as to what constitutes a bump. Here's how it's going to be applied in here:
Effective as of now, we are reducing the bump rule from 12 hours to 8 hours.
For those unsure of what is considered a bump, it is any post you make that pushes a thread to the top of the list in a forum.
Consecutive posts will be allowed if they are responding to separate posts from other members. I would prefer you keep it all in one post, but there will be no penalty because you are not just posting to keep the thread at the top, you are just using more than one post to respond to others.
The main point of the bump rule is so everyone has a chance to have their trade lists/requests seen. That isn't a problem in here. We rarely have enough threads that an ongoing discussion is pushed to Page 2. So we're not going to be nit-picky about it...if you're post serves no other purpose than to add a post to the thread, it violates the bump rule. If there is a legitimate reason for the post, it doesn't. As with anything, there can be different interpretations of what is legitimate and what is not. I'll make that call, but I'll listen to you if you want to plead your case.
There it is. I know a lot of the talk about the bump rule was done in jest, but it has been taken too far and, frankly, has started to annoy me. So now we don't need people claiming foul in the threads about it. If you think a post has violated the rule, report the post and it will be handled.

Thread Hijacking
One of the main problems in this forum has become thread hijacking. Basically, this is a post in a thread that is blatantly irrelevant to the topic. Many of the problems in the forum result from someone making a post that obviously has nothing to do with the thread, many times just to get a reaction.
This will be monitored much more closely in the future. If you don't have anything to post regarding the topic, don't post. There are threads for just about every topic, so I'm sure you can find one if you're want to talk about it...if not, make one.

And that's fine as long as 8 hours has passed. Usually things don't get bumped to the second page for a couple of days or more anyway

NOTICE: P&R Forum Rules & Policies Enforcement
As of late we have had a resurgence in issues with insults, name calling and generally disrespectful behavior and it has been generally overlooked with just PM warnings and thread closings to end it.
First and foremost I want to make it clear that this is coming to a halt. From this point forward this forum will be handled in exactly the same manner that all other parts of SCF are handled.
Here is the statement concerning language as written in the SCF rules. Please take speical note of the parts that I have highlighted in green as they specifically apply to the P&R area:
Any foul or hostile language used in SCF will not be tolerated. This includes any derogatory statements and profanity. In accordance, using symbols to represent letters or to cover letters/words is not permitted either as the words are easy to decipher. This includes any attempt to work around our foul word filter or using abbreviations for foul words. Words caught by the foul word filter will appear on the boards blanked out by * and an infraction will still be handed out for their use.
Direct or indirect personal attacks are strictly not permitted. Insults and negative attitudes are not allowed. It is better to walk away from a possible confrontation and come back with constructive arguments after you have cooled off.
All members have the right to their own ideas, beliefs and faiths. Members have the right to express these on SCF with equal respect and consideration if they are not disruptive.
Below is the points system for dealing with rules violations as they relate to the P&R forum. Take note that if you have already received a warning for language, insults, thread hi-jacking, etc. that you are already beyond that stage and the next step will be the issuance of infractions. There will be no forgiveness for prior issues.
PM Warning - Issued for the first instance of any rule violation. (NOTE: 3 PM warnings for 3 different rules violations in the P&R forum will result in a ban from the P&R forum)
1 point - Thread hijacking (taking a thread off-topic with comments that have no relation to the subject discussed.)
3 points - Posting vulgar/inappropriate images and/or language
(Profanity as well as any graphic, pornographic or indecent picture is not permitted on the site.)
5 points – Causing major problem on the boards (this includes starting threads/making comments just to incite arguments)
5 points - PM abuse (spamming, abusive language, etc.)
Finally, the comment has been made to me by several people that things such as cursing and abusive language have gone on in the past without being dealt with. Those times have passed. Everyone is permitted to speak their mind here as long as respectfulness is observed.
If anyone has any questions feel free to PM me. My PM box is always open.

Restoring "Sanity" to the P&R boards. That sounds like an oxymoron.
