Codes on back of cards, meaning?

I completely just noticed this on some of my UD cards. they have a alpha-numeric 5 digit code on the back. What is this? Seems like it is on mostly newer stuff. If someone can explain thanks.

There was a promotion where you could enter the codes online to get points. You could then redeem the points for boxes of cards, etc. UpperDeckKids.com was the website, I think

Not a problem; I dont think the promotion is still going on, though.
