Not racist. If you know history, you know that Newt is right.

What is racist about it?
A. He is correct. Palestine is a created nation and thus a created nationality. It didn't even exist prior to 1920.
B. Palestinian is not a race. Therefore, even if his statement was incorrect, it could not be a racist statement.

There is nothing racist about the comment. I will give you that. It was however a very STUPID and infammatory thing to say. Certainly something both sides should be criticizing if they have any understanding of the Middle East.

What was stupid about it?
They don't have their own language or culture as most Middle East countries do.
They may not like being called terrorist but the simple reality is that the Palestinian war effort amounts to car bombs, assasinations and launching mortars into civilian areas. They have no legitimate organized military and rely largely on Hamas to carry the fight to Israel.

Americans are an invented people. America is a created nation and thus a created nationality. It didn't even exist prior to 1776.
Does that sound stupid?

Not at all, it is the truth. Whats more, we have absolutely no indivdual culture, language or religion. So you would be spot on.
You would only be wrong if you are going to claim that Americans are a race of people and call anti-American comments racist.

nice to see we are mostly picking at the term "racist" rather than debating if his statement was hurtful or not.
Saying that they are "invented" sounds to me that he was trying to diminish them to some degree by eluding that they are not as established as others. I guess it's hard to say but that's my impression anyways.
On a side not, I find it very odd that Newt is the front runner in the race at this point. and even more so with the scandal issues that ultimately knocked Cain out of the race.
