It's a rugby league card to be exact. There are in fact 2 types of "rugby". The type of rugby that most people know about, including what Americans would call rugby, is known as rugby union. Historically this has been played by the wealthier elements in society. Rugby union didn't really become fully professional until 1995 - because historically the people who played the game were wealthy and as such didn't need to be paid for playing the game.
Rugby league has historically been played by working class people. It developed as a break away from rugby union as working class people couldn't afford to take time off work to play rugby union unless they were paid to play the game - however the wealthier elements in society didn't want to "tarnish" the game by paying people to play it. As such the break away rugby league was was formed to pay working class people for playing the game.
Growing up in a very working class area, in rugby league heartland, I followed rugby league, and my team was (and still is) the Parramatta Eeels, the team Taniela Lasalo on the card plays for. They have won the premiership (the equivalent of being super bowl champions) 4 times - in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1986. They have lost the Grand Final (the equivalent of the super bowl) 5 times - in 1976, 1977, 1984, 2001 and 2009. The last 2 years they have got the wooden spoon - they have finished last. This year they have been up and down and are middle of the pack.
Thus ends this lesson of football outside the USA.

I know I joke about having certain players in your collection, but this time I am serious - why would you ruin your collection with a card of this spoilt brat?
