    Autofreak2842's 2012 IP Thread

Well I FINALLY got my 1st IP opportunity of the year, after having a few slip away. It didn't go as well as planned, but hopefully it'll be a stepping stone, for the rest of the year.

I went to graph the Mavs at their hotel. It was me, 5 dealers and 1 dealer's daughter (used as a decoy I assume). Before I start listing how it went I'd like to state it was 5 degrees (without windchill), kinda of windy, cloudy (sun is just peaking out now), and light flurries. Now here's how it went:

Brandan Wright 1/1 card (was really cool, only I needed him and he waited a minutes while I got my card out of the sleeve. was unprepared because I didn't recognize him and was freezing)
    Vince Carter 0/3 cards (ignored)
    Yi Jianlian 0/1 card (ignored)
Dirk 0/2 (looked over at the 7 of us and said "not now" as he booked it onto the bus)
    Shawn Marion 0/3 (ignored)
    Jason Terry 0/1 (ignored)

That's all I needed/wanted/had stuff for. Rick Carlisle and Brian Cardinal also signed, but I didn't need them. Everyone else not mention, also ignored and booked it onto the bus.

I think weather played a role, in the outcome of this graphing "trip".

I've got the Swarm game tonight.

Swarm game went great! I got there a couple minutes after 6:30, when the gates opened (7:30 pm opening faceoff), and scouted the area a little bit, but didn't try to get any graphs. I kind of goofed around on the concourse a bit, won a free buffet at a local casino. Lol Watched warm ups (Lacrosse, like hockey, is tough to graph in arena). Anyways, after a 12:30 sudden death overtime (Longest game in team history, 2nd longest in NLL history) the Swarm pulled out 10-9 win!!! I then went to the "Coors light 5th quarter" Which features the "4 stars" doing a interview, in the bar at the X and outside the bar 4 players sign autographs, while most of the rest of the team hangs around, mingling with the fans. Here's what I got:

Star Goalie, Tyler Carlson 2/2 Custom 8X10 and Custom team logo 8X10 (was really cool, signed both complimented me on the customs and chatted for a bit)
Forward, Kevin Ross 1/1 Custom team logo 8X10 (Was very cool, chatted with me for a bit and thanked me for coming out)
Transition, Rich Morgan 1/1 Custom team logo 8X10 (Really cool guy, signed and thanked me for coming to the game)
Rookie Goalie, Evan Kirk 1/2 Custom team logo 8X10 (Cool guy, unfortunately didn't recognize him or the signature till I got home and checked the roster, cause I also had an indivual custom for him. Pretty quiet)

    Then after their interviews:
2012 team captain/2012 All-Star, Transition, Andrew Suitor 1/1 Custom 8X10 (Cool guy, signed for me and another guy)
2012 All-Star/fan favorite/team MVP/star Forward Ryan Benesch 1/1 Custom 8X10 (He was real cool, he signed for me and another guy. Asked me how I made the customs, and thanked me for coming to the game).

Another game on Sunday. Not sure if I'm gonna graph it yet. I would like to, but it's up to what the rest of the family does. Gonna have to prin off more customs as for that's only the 2nd home game of the season and we have season tix. So every game and STH events will add up hopefully.

I will try to post pictures on my photobucket in the AM...Or whenever I wake up.

Surprised dirk snubbed you- he's automatic usually and that's not a big crowd. My guess would be he had already signed for and recognized the dealers.

I'm glad you figured out the hotel thing.

Thanks dude! Yeah, I think it was either that or the cold. I can't really blame him, it was so cold.

Had another Swarm game today! Swarm won (9-6) and I convinced my family to stay after to get autographs!!! I didn't get as many as last time, but I'm still happy about it!! Here's what I got:

rookie forward, Jay Card 1/1 custom team logo 8X10
defensman, Nik Billic 1/1 custom team logo 8X10
rookie defenseman, Joel Henry 1/1 custom team logo 8X10

    And....
    Forward, Kevin Ross 1/1 Jersey

I got the Jersey, from my mom for Xmas, this past year and I am going to try to get it signed by all the players. Another game this upcoming saturday, but I'm not sure if I'll graph it. I'd like to, once again, but it depends on what everyone else wants to do. Since it's a family thing we do, as season ticket holders, we all ride together and sit together, etc.

Just got back from a Kevin Love signing at an AT&T store. Let me start off by saying Kevin Love is the ONLY Timberwolves player I would drive all the way to Minneapolis to get at a signing!

So, the signing was supposed to be from 3-4. I got there at 1:30. The staff at AT&T was very friendly, got us our wristbands, so we were some of the 150 guranteed to get an autograph (I went with a friend who doesn't graph, but just wanted to meet K Love and got an autograph for me). While in line the AT&T staff brought everyone Dr.Pepper (I don't drink pop) and White Castle sliders (love those!). It was cool. Unfotunately K Love kind of ruined what could have been the best signing ever, for me. By being an hour late.

Once he finally got there the line moved quick and it only took 20 minutes or so. He wasn't overly friendly, said your welcome when I thanked him and had to have someone tell him where and what color to sign in (Cause us fans are incapable of doing that). He didn't look up at all though, which is something I like athletes to do when at a signing. They had all sorts of colors from Silver to green to blue and black. Again, the AT&T staff was really accomidating and friendly.

    Recap:
Kevin Love 2/2 (Card in Blue and Custom 8X10 in black)

I will post a pic of the custom after the Swarm game, tonight.

Sweet Kevin Love successes! I got him at a couple of signings he did at Best Buy during his rookie year, when I resided in MN, and he was as cool as can be, offering to sign the store provided promo photo in addition to the item that you would bring, as well as taking photos with. How those times have changed.

Yeah, last year he stopped signing completely. And people were starting to give him a bad rep, cause he never signed in arena and most of your average fans don't know about hotels, some signings, player parking lots and shoot arounds, so since he wants to improve his public image again he is starting up doing private signings again. Of course being an hour late to the signings probably doesn't help his image a ton. Lol

Just getting to report the successes from the Swarm game tonight, cause I had to write up a piece for Inlaxwetrust.com, on the game and it ended up getting deleted, so I had to re write it. Major pain. Anways stayed after again, after a tough loss, I wasn't sure how it'd go, but here's what I got:

Rookie goalie Evan Kirk 2/2 Custom 8X10 and ticket from first start/win (He was cool, gave me a little history on the photo in the custom. I guess it was from his first college game. He thanked me for coming to the game and for "bringing back some good memories" Lol)
Captain/Transition/All-Star Andrew Suitor 1/1 team custom logo 8X10. (He was nice, not very talkative. Love his signature, Old school capital S in cursive and a cool t at the end.
Defenseman Jeff Gilbert 1/1 Team custom logo 8X10 (He was nice, thanked me for coming to the game)
Defenseman Mitch Belisle 1/1 Custom team logo 8X10 (He was cool, not very talkative)
Transition player Andrew Watt custom team logo 8X10 (He was cool, again not very social, assuming it's due to the loss)
Rookie forward Jay Card 1/1 Jersey (He was nice. Thanked me for coming to the game and asked me to make a custom of him, which I already have but haven't printed it lol)
Defenseman Nik Bilic 1/1 Jersey (Signed it in silver, looks sweet. He was nice. Thanked me for coming to the game)
Transition Rich Morgan 1/1 Jersey (He was real cool. signed for a ton of people at the bar. He's a fan favorite. He recognized me from an earlier game. We talked for a bit about the game tonight and next weeks game. Asked me if I had a good time tonight and thanked me for coming out)

I also bought a cheeleader (they are called a performance team) calendar for $10. I figured what the heck, they aren't bad to look at, I need a 2012 calendar still and I always love getting stuff signed. For $10 you get a calendar already signed by all of the members of the "performance team" and they personalize it to you. Way better than the Vikings cheerleaders that are $20 and signed by maybe 2 of them if lucky.

It's late, I'm tired. I will post pics from both signing experiences, when I wake up.
