Do you collect autographs of a-holes?

Would you avoid graphing a celebrity or athlete who has a history of illegal/immoral behavior (e.g., Michael Vick, Tyson, Kobe, Mel Gibson), or is otherwise a known jerk?

In the past it hasn't mattered much to me--I didn't think twice about graphing Paris Hilton or Kobe Bryant (at the time I was thrilled). But seeing the overwhelmingly positive reception Chris Brown got from the crowd at the Grammy's made me think about how short the memories of fans can be, and how fame can outshine even very dark acts. (My post on the subject if you're interested.)

Does character matter in your collection?

I personally have passed on getting Bill Romanowski at a celebrity golf tourney because I don't care for him.

No, because when someone is controversial and such, their autograph's rise in value, so I want it more.

Depends on the player. I would still be thrilled to get a Strawberry autograph, even if he threw away many years and crushed fans hearts with his drug problems. Big Ben on the other hand I would walk away from should he be sitting at a table at a store I was already at and signing for free without a line.

My favorite players MUST be of high character, so yes I totally avoid players like T.O., Michael Vick, Albert Belle, ect..

Athletes/Politicians/Musicians are not Gods and therefore fall to a lot of the temptations that the average joe on the streets falls for. That being said I can't say that I would ever turn down the chance for an autograph. Even if it was for a politician/musician/ballplayer that I hated I would simply get the autograph then turn around and trade or sell it. BTW I very rarely if never sell or trade my IP/TTM autos but that would be the rare exception.

I have certain guys that I avoid. I'll turn off a Chris Brown song on the radio. I have never tried to graph Tom Seaver due his a-holeness years ago.

It's a case by case basis for me. Chris Brown- No. Kobe Bryant- No. Plaxico Burress-Yes.
