Women debate
I was in a discussion awhile ago with a guy who was ragging about women who play and/or enjoy watching sports, video games, etc. I wanted to know why he was against such women when they could actually relate to his interests better. Predictably, he responded that most tomboys weren't "hot" and that he would rather be with a high-maintenance "dime" who didn't know anything about sports than a "plain or ugly" woman who could understand him better.
Honestly, I could understand this line of reasoning better if there weren't so many guys who then proceed to complain about their "dime" women spending all their money and not understanding their trading card habits, man caves, etc. It takes me by surprise how many other guys would rather deal with women who give them all kinds of problems than pass them up for a girl who may not have bombshell looks, but is much more easy to live with. I mean, why not just hang up posters and remain single?
So where do you side in this debate? What are your experiences, and how have they colored your opinions?
(As an aside, as a female myself, I thankfully found a guy who actually finds athletic women "hot," so I'm happy with my relationship [almost eight years and counting]. Just wondering why lots of others don't go his route - seems they are just setting themselves up for frustration, despite the attractiveness their partner brings.)

My wife is somewhat of a mix. She gets her hair, nails, toes done, watches reality tv and reads gossip mags but she will sit down and look at a ball game with me from time to time. Her favorite ball players are kobe, vick and tebow. She is also somewhat athletic and goes running and to the gym. She does however hate the fact that I collect cards and wishes that I would stop. (She also hates that I am a vegetarian but that is for a different discussion) So I have the best and the worst of both worlds. Go figure.

Well that is pretty cool. Any reason for disliking the card habit? Mine finds it pretty amusing that I collect them, if totally boring. :)

She says that I spend too much time and money on them. No more than she spends on hair weave and other nonsense that we can do without.

My wife is awesome. She can get dolled up like the best of them (take tonight for instance, for our anniversary. She's getting ready and she looks SMOKIN'!). She also loves sports and plays on my coed soccer team Thursday nights. I find women who can balance both to be incredibly attractive. It shows that they care about their bodies not just in the way they look but healthwise as well.
She also is a fan of my hobby. She loves watching my new pickups come in and even sometimes calls me at work to ask if she can open my mail before I get home. She wasn't much of a sports watching fan before we met 5 years ago but now she gets into games more than I do. Of course, she has a huge crush on our favorite team's QB, Aaron Rodgers. But I mean, who doesn't?! She loves the cards and actually has already made a rough blueprint for the man cave that she's gonna make for me when we get our own long-term home. I have a huge vintage baseball collection and she wants to create a vintage themed man cave and I'm a big fan of her design. Can't wait for that!
So with that being said, I find the "tomboy" part of the woman to be extremely hot. I think my wife looks really hot with soccer shorts, tshirt, hair in a ponytail and headband in getting ready to play soccer. She looks just as hot then as she does in the little black dress she's wearing tonight.

I've had a couple girls that would look at my cards and pick out the players they thought were cute....that was the extent of their sports knowledge.....they did not last long

Sorry but if a female isn't interested in sports or at least somewhat athletic, I'm not going to be interested in her. Just the way I am. It's a turn on to me if a woman can talk sports and enjoy doing athletic activities.

Ryan, that is awesome! Although I am a little alarmed that apparently everyone has a crush on Aaron Rodgers. :)
duwal, that seems to be fairly typical, sadly.
Rabs, kewl.
Incidentally, I remember a poll on SCF a couple of years ago about gender - I think 95% of people here were male. Hard to say how much the member total has gone up since then, or how accurate the sampling was relative to the rest of the members who didn't vote, but if we take the current 44,830 number and multiply it by .05 and .1, there would be about 2,000 to 4,000 collectors registered on SCF who are female.

I wouldn't want a plain woman who only watched and played sports nor would I want a super high maintenance woman that was a "dime" (whatever that is). I go for girls in the middle. Girls that can play sports and go camping and also get dressed and have nice style.
For the guy to say that most girls who play sports or watch sports are plain or ugly, that's simply not the case from my experience.
