Several Children Killed this Week ...
... but it wasn't a racial story so no main stream media covered it. For example:
http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2...police-officer
Her name was Aliyah Shell. Criminal that if she got 1/100 of the attention the Zimmerman/martin case is getting, someone might turn in her killer. There are tons of killing this week of adults and children. It's shameful that our media only covers the ones that will make them money.

Yes this is a heartbreaking story just like with any child being murdered. However the key words in this story is the police are speaking with two persons of intrests. It is a good possiblility that an arrest(s) can be made and these monsters can be put to justice. The difference between this and Trayvon is that no one has been bought to justice for his murder. Still a sad story but please stop comparing apples to oranges.

Further proof that mainstream news media exists for one purpose and one purpose only. To make money.
The Trayvon case is sexy, to the media, because it brings up a lot of emotions so people want to hear about it. The media then makes it worse by taking sides and blaming shirts. We, of course, fall for it head over heels and lap up the BS the media fives us.
This isn't because of the media, it's because of us. The media just plays to what we, the people, want.

As veggie states, part of the reason Trayvon's story has gotten so much attention is because of the justice issue (arrests, or lack thereof). When white female Natalee Holloway's murder went unsolved, that one got a lot of media attention, too - was that one about race as well?

That was again mis-information. As video showed, Zimmerman was in fact taken to the police station and questioned. People like Oprah state that Zimmeraman was simply released on the scene of the crime. NOT TRUE AT ALL. He was taken into custody, processed, questioned and released. He was released because an independent witness confirmed his testimony of him getting beat for 60 straight seconds before shooting his gun.

Ok smart guy why did the lead detective want to charge zimmerman with manslaughter if he was so innocent?

Eyewitness accounts are nonetheless often unreliable - they are not like video or DNA evidence. Perhaps they are right, but let's consider - people are upset because a murder undeniably took place, and someone is out free. Was it likely that a fight occurred, and Zimmerman had to defend himself? Yes, but when you have a 5'9" 250 pound guy trained in defense from a law program going against a 6'3" 140-160 pound unarmed teenager, there are a lot of people who are going to find shooting someone to death as kinda over the top, race or not. Kinda like when that white female died. The media is on this because it's a huge story with many questions, and that is understandable.

I've seen my share and have even been involved in fights in my early teens back in high school. When you got into a fight,it was almost always just fists. As soon as kicking got involved and it got onesided,it got broken up.
Kids these days don't fight like kids back in the 70's.They kick, scratch, bite, use pipes, sticks and even gang fight on one indivdual.I'm tired of this kid getting labeled as a child so innocent. These days,a 17 yr old is an adult.Note,I didn't say mature,I said an adult. This kid knew what he was doing. If Zimmerman had a broken nose, its pretty clear to me Trayvon knew how to fight and was used to it.Just didn't end the way he wanted.~~Dave C.

Because he was the first on scene and didn't get all the evidence. After a witness confirmed Zimmerman's story the charges were not filed.
