Crying Rangers fan gets a ball

Video that made the news. Oblivious people next to a small kid get a ball tossed to them. Then after they act completely oblivious. Eventually the kid gets a ball tossed to him by someone else.

I can't believe people like this. They look arrogant to me.

I know....It is just a ball...it eould have been nice to give the kid an auto ball from the team...then they start taking pics right beside the poor little kid....you can see his happinness when he gets the ball....awesome

people like what? I don't see a big issue. It's not like the guy a few years ago that knocked the kid down to get the ball. The ball just went to the guy that caught it.

I get that taking the picture and posting it online probably rubbed it in a bit to the kid, but come on. I also get that the kid would be disappointed. Catching a ball at a game is one of the top things you think about when you are a kid so I get that. However, I'm 37 and have been to a decent amount of games and I have never caught a ball. The closest I came to one was a line drive that smacked the seat in front of me a few years ago. If I caught a ball at a game and a kid next to me started crying about not getting it I'm not sure what I would do. I'd want to keep it as it would be my first. I guess ultimately it would depend on who hit it of who tossed it to me. If it was a player I really liked I highly doubt it. If it was a guy I didn't care for or was just a warm up ball, I might give it up. It would also depend on the way I got it. If I bumped into him or something or someone else did I'd be more likely to hand it over. If It just came to me I doubt it.

In 5-10 years he won't give a jack-diddly about that ball. My daughter met Tim Tebow and got a game program signed by him, she could care less. I think it is in a box somewhere in her room. She also met Seth McClung (MLB pitcher) and got a signed baseball and picture. She gave me the picture and has the ball in a ballcube in her room somewhere.

There is a rare chance he will care when he is an adult but it isn't that big of a deal IMO.

also, we all know little kids cry about a lot of insignificant crap. He probably would have gotten over it after a few innings.

I've never understand the thought that kids are entitled to things over adults at sporting events (balls, autographs, etc.). Every time I've snagged a ball at a baseball game, I've given it to a kid, yes. I don't push little kids when getting autographs; I help them. But why do they "deserve" something over me? Realistically, I'm going to care more about that signature (or baseball) in the future and will mean more to me. I don't get it.

yeah, that's what I thought. Although, as a person without kids, it's kind of nice to cheer up a crying kid to make them happy and also to get them to stop the annoying crying. I bet the kid's dad was probably just telling him "Suck it up, junior". lol
