    Is that what it says?
I thought it was about a well regulated militia that was allowed to bear arms.
    Says nothing about the individual.

The SCOTUS has ruled on multiple occasions that the second amendment also applies to private citizens. Once the supreme court rules on something that's it. They are the highest court in the land.

This is true. It doesn't matter that the second was out of date as soon as the US had a standing army.

So it's not the Second Amendment that protects your rights to arms its a 2008 SCOTUS decision?

The 2nd amendment protects our right to bear arms. The SCOTUS only affirmed it.

The second ammendment also says the US needs militias to protect your shores. I would think your army makes that unnecessary.
And since there's nothing in there about guns being needed to protect from government, the second is basically as outdated as alchemy.

Let's see how outdated it is when the gov't tries to repeal it.

    Here's the thing:
Where in there does it say an individual (I'm not talkiung SCOTUS)?
Do you really think a militia is necessary to protect the US from outside forces?
Do you think the second ammendment is about protection FROM the US of OF the US?

    1. A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

    2. Yes. If there was some type of disturbance on our soil and the gov't asked the common man to assist it would be our patriot duty and obligation to help out.

    3. Yes. The second amendment helps keep the gov't in check as well as providing a back up to the military and police if all hell breaks loose.

Like most Americans you ignore the first part. Add "because" to the beginning and you've got what it says. As soon as you had a standing army, the second ammendment became old and pointless.

    2. Yes. If there was some type of disturbance on our soil and the gov't asked the common man to assist it would be our patriot duty and obligation to help out.

That makes very little sense. Why would the government need the common man's help? They have the largest standing army in the world and it's all over the world.

    3. Yes. The second amendment helps keep the gov't in check as well as providing a back up to the military and police if all hell breaks loose.

Really? You think the government is sitting there saying "Damn! I want to attack our people with our massive army and drone attackas, but some of them have guns! IT CAN'T BE DONE!"

If you think the second ammendment is what's keeping the government in check, you need to get your head in check. What keeps the government in check is the fear of losing their jobs. Your votes do more to keep the government in check than any gun could. If you hadn't spent your whole life being brainwashed to thing gun=invincibility, you'd realize that.
