It's pretty close, but overall I'd lean towards Hamilton. It can definitely change, but I'd go with him right now. My top five is probably something like this :
    1. Miguel Cabrera
    2. Josh Hamilton
    3. Mike Trout
    4. Derek Jeter
    5. David Price

Mike Trout, and it's not really close. I'd obviously love Miggy to win one (considering he was jobbed out of it in 2010), but Trout is far and away the MVP.

This is just a personal opinion, but I would not even have Josh Hamilton in my top 5. When you have a 6-8 week stretch where you are just completely awful, there is no way you're the MVP.

Mike Trout, no contest. The Angels were dead in the water until he came along. He's been the most dynamic player in the game this year, and at 20 years old.

baseballboy2, you have some weird ideas when it comes to MVP. You really do.

Knew someone would use this narrative

Perhaps it's just me, but a narrative shouldn't be the reason you're the MVP, Mike Trout is the MVP because he's brought the most value to his team thus far.

Wouldn't a guy that almost single handedly saved his team's season make him the most valuable? The Angels were going nowhere until he came along. His talent, and enthusiasm, turned the season around for them.

everyone started playing better not just Trout

I'm Miguel Cabrera MVP'ing and in my eyes thats actually no question. Every big situation he comes through he's a rock in that line up and when he gets out (minus K's) he lines out. I just think this guy is the scariest hitter to face in baseball and the best player no holes in his game.

Well, no. Hunter started hitting, Pujols started hitting, Morales (eventually) started hitting, Trumbo was hitting (before he realized he really wasn't as good as his numbers, and has since gone into the tank). And let's be honest, if the Angels didn't start to get some better pitching, it wouldn't matter what Mike Trout did.

He's still the MVP at the moment, in my opinion, but placing a false narrative isn't fair to everyone else, because you could just as easily place a narrative onto other players.

I'm sorry that I have an opinion. At least my opinion is FAIR and UNBIASED. It's certainly a close race, far closer than the NL in my opinion. How can you say Trout is the MVP, no contest. Both Miguel Cabrera and Josh Hamilton are having great seasons as well. I wouldn't be shocked nor would I be offended if Trout won it. I'm just a real stickler for playoff teams.

And you do bring up a good point. Trust me, I didn't forget about that July/early August drought Hamilton was in. But if you look at the overall picture, his numbers are fantastic and he is the main reason why that team is where they're at.
