A cheap way to get pennies is to 'buy' rolls of them from the bank, credit union or stores. Stores you may only get a roll or two but the others can supply you with how much you want - especially if you order ahead. 1982 is a mix of some zinc and some copper, the easiest way to tell the difference is to drop them on a tile floor/counter. They sound so different. Anyway, 1981 and before are copper and actually worth keeping. I know that's not your goal but it's worth mentioning.
The reason I say that is b/c there are still a few indian head pennies in circulation and a lot of wheat pennies so if you want to sort you have a number of things to look for. ...plus, there are some errors... :D
