Best program for creating hockey cards?

Hi guys, planning to create hockey cards for recently retired players and wondering what program would be best to use. I tried a couple free ones, gimp seems annoying to figure out and Photoscape worked but not that much you can do with it. I'm looking for a program that will allow me to create a good template for inputting text because I wanna put in every career season's stats for each player I make and it'll be a lot considering it's for players who retired. The cards themselves don't need to have a template but I wanna have a program which will at least allow me to have some sort of template for text so I don't have to re-do it each time.

It might finally be time to get Photoshop but it's expensive so I wanna ensure that I'm getting the right version for sports cards and if there's a better alternative specifically for this purpose.

These are the ones I made so far with Photoscape...fairly simple, have not done the back of the Lidstrom card. These cards are gonna be around 1.5X bigger than the usual 2.5"x3.5" so that I can fit more on there a bit easily.





Also for printing, I used regular photo paper and the Staios one looked good but obviously photo paper isn't card paper so it's quite flimsy....would there be an ideal type of paper to use for an inkejet printer?

I would recommend photoshop, it is what most people use I myself use it and LOVE it. Of course at first it is confusing to learn but there are tons of tutorials on youtube that will help you right through that. As for printint here is an amazing tutorial by one of the best hockey card makers on this site!
