View my store BetaOf course this is a good time to sell Cabrera stuff, this guy just accomplished something that hasn't happened in 45 years. But I really find it amazing that there are always Debbie Downers talking about the market being flooded and suckers when a player makes history and his cards start to generate more interest. All it takes is a little research to realize that Cabrera may be the most underrated superstar in all of sports. Look at his career stats, this guy may go down as the greatest all around hitter of his generation. Pujols has garnered a lot more attention but, Cabrera is very comparable statistically, and he is the one who just accomplished something that everyone thought Pujols would be the next one to do. I am glad that there are guys out there that still don't value Cabrera at this point because barring major injury or a positive PED test, you are missing the boat. Cabrera is undervalued in the hobby plain and simple. His cards are finally reaching the price point they belong in and the guy is still 29 years old. He is still right in the prime of his career. There is still plenty of potential for his stuff do doubt about it.

View my store BetaThe reason people play Debbie Downer is because it is true. You can get stuff of Yaz (who was the last Triple Crown) for almost nothing compared to current prospects. Somebody like Frank Robinson who might be most similar to Cabrera (a Triple Crown winner who wasn't really appreciated for his greatness during his time) also struggles to command much in the marketplace.
Odds are likely that you always sell whoever is hot the 10% who continue to increase in price or you regret selling for too cheap (Trout, Pujols) pale in comparison to the flops over the years or the one hit wonders (Joba, Delmon Young, Matt Bush, etc).
I mean I think Cabrera is an amazing player who is headed for the HOF but I realize that many players who were amazing and are already in the HOF can be had for cheap right now.Trade Bucket: Hidden Content

View my store BetaTo put Cabrera in the same paragraph as Joba Chamberlain and Matt Bush is pretty insulting. My entire point is that he is much more comparable to Trout, Jeter, and Pujols than he is to any of these busts. He is still young enough that he has potential left, especially now that he has Prince Fielder as a factor in the lineup hitting around him, but he is also a guy who has a significant track record with some very impressive career stats so far. 1800 Hits, 320 HR, and 1120 RBI all by age 29. If he puts up his average yearly stats for the next 4 or 5 more years that will put him in very select company. Now I do agree that older HOFers do get forgotten about and thats a shame and a lack of appreciation for guys who helped make baseball our national past time. It just bothers me when people make judgements about who is garnering collector interest at a particular time. Why should someone else be able to tell me who or what to collect? As a collector it is your choice to collect what gives you enjoyment. And I just happen to completely disagree that if someone decides to start collecting a guy who just won the first triple crown in 45 years that they are a sucker.

View my store BetaIf you guys compare numbers, Pujols and Cabrera have had some pretty comparable years in the past. I would also say that Cabrera has been a better player than Pujols for the past 3 years.

View my store BetaEven if Cabrera hits 700 home runs and drives in 2,000 RBI, his cards will never be worth more then they are going for right now. Reference, Ken Grifffey Jr. Griffey cards are worth less now then 20 years ago and that's with Griffey hitting 600 plus home runs.. then factor in inflation... If you collect cards for fun, that's fine... If you are looking to flip a profit on Cabrera, the time to sell is now, his card will never be worth more then it is now.

View my store BetaAs far as guys like Griffey, once they get into the HOF, their stuff will sky rocket. Same can be said for many names right now.
