I don't mean to lecture and I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way. I just think because he's new to the hobby maybe he could use some help from more experienced veterans.
How about instead of posting this to suggest we contact a 14 year old we don't know to give him tips on collecting baseball cards instead of just having an innocent laugh about it which the kid will never even know about, how about YOU email him and give him some collecting tips?

Sorry, I don't sell/trade for you to make a profit. And I couldn't care less what "the last one on eBay sold for".

To be honest, I still consider myself a newbie. I feel like I'm still learning the ropes and picking up on new things everyday. The knowledge of many more experienced members on this site dwarfs anything I know about collecting and is a great resources.

And like I tried to say at the end of my original post, I don't mean to chastise anyone for the thread. I'll admit too that it is funny and I have laughed at similar listings in the past and probably will continue to do so in the future. I had no intent of coming across as "holier than thou" although I realize how my original post can be interpreted as such.

The sad part is it is probably the kids dad using the kid as a mirage.I see alot of that on Craigs list people list things like this and it turns out to be an adult who does not even have kids.

I understand your sentiment and intention here, but I would avoid at all costs trying to tell someone that their beloved collection is worth a lot less than they think. Very slim chance they'll appreciate that insight and see it as anything other than dishonest lobbying so the seller will accept a low-ball. When I go to a flea-market and see a box of 1991 Donruss for $100 or best offer I jut walk away. If they don't by now, they never will.

...And there's always the chance that something like this is the true case. It's sad but people will do anything for a buck.

i doubt there's a 14 yr old kid at all seeing as how his whole collection is 80s-90s junk cards. kind of like those listings on ebay "selling dad's/ex-husband's old cards"...they have been selling off dad's old cards for years now. i call b.s.
