How do you guys feel about Tristar cards?

I've been looking for some Kershaw game used cards and found some Tristar cards w/ his jersey on it. I don't think I've ever heard of Tristar. How well respected are they in the card collecting community? Just curious because I was after some Sage Hit football cards and everyone I talked to said Sage is less quality and 'crap'. Is Tristar on par with that or how are they looked upon?

Doesn't Tristar run all of those card shows/autograph signing events?

Their credibility in the baseball card market is hurt because they basically made minor league stuff and nobody cares for unlicensed stuff or minor league in baseball anymore. Their stuff is legit but not collected heavily.

Thanks pwaldo. Google results showed me a bunch of minor league baseball info so I wasn't sure what to think.

I don't understand, Tristar may not make the nice fancy shiny cards such as topps or ud or the other 1000 manufacturers however I have found several wrestling cards thru that company in my collection to be nice and desirable to others, I would say thesamefor sage, who cares who manufactures the card, if you are a true collector and in the hobby to collect then the card manufacturer should not matter, it should only matter who you collect and go with it. People base to much of this hobby on money now, I thought it was a hobby a thing to have fun with, remember when we were all kids a pack was 50 cents to a dollar and you had fun, now granted they add autos and gu in packs and jack up packs to outrageous amounts to where its all about the money. But if you are collecting kershaw then go get them all you'd be more respected to have as many gu or auto cards of one player rather than worry about a manufacturer

I know nothing about their cards but they are a very respectable company when it comes to autographs.

I agree 100% and thank you for your post. This isn't so much a question about money, but yes, the card is cheap. My question more had to do with a manufacturer that I never heard of before. After a 20 year lay off, I am just getting back into collecting and as such finding a lot more manufacturers out there than I remember in the past. I just wanted an idea of what these guys are about. I read quite a bit about scams and don't want to buy an item from a manufacturer I've never heard of if it could be fake. For example, I see a Tristar auto card of Kershaw but it says nothing about being authentic. I know the Topps cards I have say they are authentic and might have a blurb about it on the back of the card about the signing took place in front of a representative blah blah blah... I try to think 'if it is too good to be true, then it is' when buying cards. To be honest, I thought Sage football cards were fine and liked the fact that the football cards had the players in gear, or working out, in items that weren't their drafted team. Kind of a raw look to me. Anyway, just wondering who this Tristar is and if I can safely buy from them knowing their product is legit. If I came across different in my original post I apologize.
