While the rest of us thought "he's full of it" when Bob Costas told Joe Posnanski he'd like to broadcast a full season of minor-league baseball, the Inland Empire 66ers out in California saw a great opportunity.

And so the Advanced Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels have floated an offer to the NBC and MLB Network broadcaster: Their microphone is his for 2013 if he'd like to chase his dream while living in the San Bernadino Valley for a summer.

Costas is probably associated with baseball more than any other specific sport, but it's interesting that he's never actually broadcasted a full season of baseball for one team. I actually wonder if he'll one day take the Dick Enberg route and settle down with a major-league team to quench that thirst, though it's hard to see him ever walking away from those huge network paychecks. Or maybe he'll actually do the minor-league thing one day.
