    Dodgers win Ryu Hyun-jin bidding

    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/s...a-ryu-hyun-jin

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to spare no expense in their search for talent all over the globe.

The Dodgers bid $25.7 million for a chance to sign Korean left-hander Ryu Hyun-jin, Major League Baseball announced Saturday. Hyun-jin, 25, is a seven-time All-Star for the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organiztion.

The Dodgers now have 30 days to negotiate a contract with Ryu, who reportedly is represented by agent Scott Boras. The Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers also were among the clubs thought to be interested in Ryu.

"We have watched Ryu pitch for a long time and he is another option to consider as we look to improve our team in 2013 and beyond," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said in a statement.

Hyun-jin had 210 ks in 182+ innings with a 2.66 ERA last year. A 2.80 career ERA. The Dodgers didn't spend 25+ million not to sign him.

    projected starting rotation:

    Clayton Kershaw
    Josh Beckett
    Ryu Hyun Jin
    Chris Capuano
    Aaron Harang

(with Chad Billingsley and Ted Lilly expected to return in 2013)

    projected starting lineup:

    LF Carl Crawford
    SS Dee Gordon
    1B Adrian Beltre
    CF Matt Kemp
    RF Andre Ethier
    3B Hanley Ramirez
    2B Mark Ellis
    C A.J. Ellis

The Dodgers are starting to look like a juggernaut!

Actually, the Dodgers haven't spent anything yet. They don't have to pay that if they don't get him signed.

I don't think he's hating. Scouts believe he is more likely to be a reliever in MLB than a starter, plus those are numbers against much lesser competition, against hitters with a different approach.

I wouldn't call the Dodgers a "juggernaut" though, they're just wasting a lot of money right now, it seems.

Hahahahahaha. A juggernaut wins 2 world series in 3 years. Not one that spends a zillion dollars to end up 8 games back. A juggernaut, too funny.

Remember, these guys arent going to play 1/5 of the end of the season together like the end of last year, this is going to be the lineup the dodgers start the season with (minus Crawford about the 1st 2 weeks).

You cant tell me this isn't one of the top teams expected to make the playoffs and go all the way next year.
Anyone who says otherwise are either personally misinformed or just fooling themselves.

Guess I'm fooling myself then, because the team they have right now isn't one of the top teams in my opinion. They'll be expected to make the playoffs, though, as they should be. However, spending money on players that aren't worth it doesn't make you one of, or the best.

So did Hunter Pence, Scutaro, Mijares on the Giants. How'd that work out? Yes, they should be favored. They spend more money then the Yanks. Will they win? Who knows. But you are no Juggernaut until you win at least something.
