apparently reyes is in dubai and that is what is holding the deal up. everything should be signed, sealed and delivered by saturday

Selig would probably void the trade if he could, but he can't really. Even Bud Selig realizes how fraudulent the Marlins are, that's when you know things are bad.

Where in any sport has this kind of trade taken place? In terms of mere number of players and salary nothing really comes to mind. Prospects are however traded for proven players all the time and this is just another one of those so I see no real reason to void this trade on Selig's part.

The Marlins aren't even getting that good of a return, they're just dumping salary so they can have a $25 million payroll and make a ton of money, after scamming the city of Miami to build them a new ballpark.

marlins are not getting much in return.
if this were the Yanks or sox it might be voided
Very correct about this being a salary dump. All this after a new stadium

Marlins got two World championships in the last 15 years, repeat 2 World Championships. That is as many as the the Braves-Mets-Philles-Nationals combined in the last 20 years. The Nationals could have gotten two big bats during the 2005 season to get the offence they needed to make the playoffs. All that profit they were making with the tiny Expos payroll and great increase in attendance moving to Washington and they did nothing. The Marlins will never have a great fan base because Florida's population is to scattered around the state. The crappy Twins got more Revenue with a three year old stadium then the Marlins have with a brand new Stadium.

Oh yeah Marlins dumped a bunch of over payed above average players, Buehrle is getting old and will be overpaid by about $5-6 million for 2013 Season. Josh Johnson is a unreliable injury prone almost every season. Reyes is getting older and had a .347 OBP. They are trying to do what worked for the Rays, get young "juiced up" talent and lock them up for years at a reduced price.

They aren't doing anything close to what the Rays do, all they're doing is angering any fans they had, and angering their best, and only superstar, who doesn't want to be there. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/m...romises-111612

They should've just relocated the team instead of having the owner lie to get a new stadium built for him. (relocate the Rays as well, because they actually win and people still don't show up)

and for the record, what's wrong with a .347 OBP? Especially at shortstop? That's well above league average.

Are you an angry bosox fan by any chance? The rays have built their farm system over their entire existence and what the marlins have done is a result of their own poor spending practices and loading up for the playoffs the two times they won. If Johnson is so injury prone why is he perhaps the most sought after pitcher in terms of trade talks? MLB works in terms of potential and Johnson even has a proven track record of being a dominant starter. Buehrle is one of the most consistent starters in baseball over his career and he never gets injured so again your logic is flawed. Reyes won the batting title two seasons ago as well, but apparently that doesn't mean all that much to you either.

A.347 OBP is not worth $15 Million a season for Reyes. There is no place to relocate that would have a much better market then Tampa or Miami. The countrys densily populated areas are all taken. Remember he is from the Domincan Republic and players from there are always 2-3 years older then listed in their bios. r

The Marlins will have a better record this season with a lower payroll. Also they payed the big bucks for players in 1997 and the fans were not buying up season tickets for the 1998 Season after they won the World Series. So the owner traded away the highest payed players cause it ate into his profits when the fans would not come.

No I am not a Redsox fan. Buehrle's 3.88 ERA is not worth 13 Million for the 2013 season. That is only worth about $7-8 tops.

Johnson is sought because GMs are stupid and like overpaying for injury prone over hyped players. Darren Dreifort was payed $10 Million a season just because Todd Hundley said "this guys great". Driefort had not proven anything except that he was injury prone and could not pitch well even with a 98 MPH fastball.

I believe Buehrle is getting paid market value over the term of his contract and that's all that matters. Every player in baseball is an injury risk and Johnson is no different. He was healthy last year and had a pretty good season on an awful team. You put him with the line up the Jays have mustered up and he should be good for 15 wins easily.
